Sophrology
What is Sophrology?
Sophrology is a structured mind-body practice that blends breathwork, gentle movement, visualisation, and relaxation. It’s not therapy, yoga, or meditation — but it borrows the best from each and makes it accessible, repeatable, and empowering.
You don’t need special equipment, flexibility, or prior experience. Just a willingness to pause, stay curious, and explore.
Why Sophrology?
Born in Europe. Flourishing in France. Now here for you.
Sophrology was developed in the 1960s by neuropsychiatrist Alfonso Caycedo as a gentle, structured way to help people reconnect with their inner resources. Today, it’s widely practised across France — with over 10,000 trained sophrologists supporting individuals in schools, hospitals, workplaces, and wellness centres.
But in the UK, Sophrology is still a hidden gem. At SophroFocus, I am changing that.
Who Is It For?
If you’re ready to feel more in control — not just in moments of crisis, but in everyday life — Sophrology is for you.
Sophrology is designed to support people through life’s ups and downs — whether you're navigating stress, seeking better sleep, building confidence, or simply looking for more clarity in your day.
It’s not a cure-all, and it’s not therapy. But it is a structured method that many people find helpful in building emotional resilience, improving focus, and reconnecting with their inner calm.
At SophroFocus, I offer a space where you can:
Learn simple tools to support your wellbeing
Explore gentle techniques for relaxation and clarity
Build habits that help you feel more grounded and in control
You don’t need to be flexible, spiritual, or experienced. Just curious — and willing to pause, breathe, and explore
From Teens to Retirees
Sophrology adapts to every stage of life. At SophroFocus, I work with:
Teens and students building focus and emotional resilience
Young professionals managing stress and performance
Parents seeking calm amidst the chaos
Midlife explorers rediscovering clarity and purpose
Retirees cultivating presence, vitality, and peace
Each session is tailored to your needs, your pace, and your goals.

What Happens in a Session?
First Session
In your first session, we begin with a relaxed conversation to understand what’s bringing you here — stress, sleep, confidence, clarity, or something else entirely. You don’t need to prepare or perform. Just come as you are.
Each session is then tailored to you. We begin with a check-in, then move through guided exercises that may include:
Breathwork to anchor and energise
Gentle movement to release tension
Visualisation to build clarity and confidence
Relaxation to restore balance
You’ll leave with practical tools you can use anytime — at your desk, in the car, before sleep, or during a tough conversation.
Ongoing Sessions
Each session builds on the last, tailored to your pace and goals. Most clients begin with weekly sessions for 4 – 6 weeks, then reassess. Some return months later for a “top-up” or continue longer-term for deeper transformation.
There’s no pressure, no fixed programme — just a supportive space to explore, grow, and feel more in control.
Ongoing Sessions
You’ll be encouraged to practice short exercises between sessions — just a few minutes a day can make a big difference. These practices help you integrate what you’ve learned and build lasting change.
How many sessions should I commit to?
This is one of the most common questions — and the honest answer is: it depends.
Your journey with Sophrology is personal. If you’ve been living with stress or overwhelm for a long time, it may take a little longer to unwind and rebuild. If your symptoms are more recent, you might notice shifts more quickly.
That said, most clients report feeling a benefit from the very first session. Many choose to begin with 4 - 6 weekly sessions, which allows time to build momentum and integrate the tools. After that, we reassess together — based on how you're feeling and what you're hoping to achieve.
Some clients return for a refresher or “top-up” session a few months later, while others continue with longer-term support depending on their goals.
You’re not committing to a fixed programme — you’re choosing to invest in yourself, one breath at a time.
